At the Amanda Moncur Salon, we live by a set of values and beliefs that set us apart from other salons. We believe these values directly impact our team of stylists, as well as our guests, so we want to let you know what drives us, so you can know how you’ll be cared for at our salon.
We use an acronym to express our values at the Amanda Moncur Salon, and that acronym is S.A.L.O.N.! Easy enough to remember, right? Each letter stands for the following:
S: Serve. We come to work to serve each other and our guests. At the Amanda Moncur Salon, our teamwork comes first. Our definition of teamwork is “no one left behind.” Everyone is an assistant here, and everyone is the cleaner here. As a guest here, you’ll be treated like royalty by anyone you come into contact with, because you’re not just your stylist’s guest, you’re a guest of the salon. We are all here to serve our guests and each other, so you can feel secure asking anyone for help, knowing we are all working together to give you the best experience possible.
A: Ambition. At the Amanda Moncur Salon, we value growth and we want to become better as a team. The salon’s goals, team’s goals, and individual goals all matter. That means if you see it, own it! We are what we walk past, so we don’t walk past low standards. All of our team members are here to learn and improve themselves as stylists and as business owners, so we are always striving to do a better job each time you sit in one of our chairs. We are always taking new classes and seeking out new information to be able to give you your dream hair. If there’s a service you wish we offered, ask! We always want to stay on the cutting edge of the hair world, and be able to provide the services that our guests find are important.
L: Love. We enter each situation with love on our minds first. At the Amanda Moncur Salon, we love each other in all circumstances. We are an environment of accepting each other for who we are. For our team sometimes that means tough love because if you really love someone you would help them and be honest with them. For our guests, that means providing the best care possible, not just when it comes to doing their hair, but also in our interactions with them. We want our guests to have a glamorous and relaxing experience, and strive to provide that from the second they walk in the door, to the second they walk out.
O: Originality. We value who you are, being you can never be replaced. The thief of joy is comparison. As stylists we tend to compare our business to someone else, or the hair others do. The focus should be learning from those we admire, not comparing ourselves; we are all individually great and that is what makes our team strong. We show up to be ourselves, and bring our strengths to the table, and help others where they fall short. We are always working together to find creative solutions to any problems that arise.
N: Never failing—forever learning! We are in an environment of learning; it is important that we innovate and collaborate. Failure is only the path to success. Whenever we mess up, it is an opportunity to share and create a system around it so we can succeed. At the Amanda Moncur Salon, we don’t hide failure; we celebrate it, because it gives us something new to learn. To that end, if you ever experience a failure on our part, (we’re all human, so it happens!) you can rest assured that the proper steps will be taken to ensure that we won’t make that mistake again. We will always try to make it right, and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
